I really enjoyed this post and found the escalator analogy to be an eye-opener for understanding upskilling in a new way.Having been caught up in the daily grind myself and eventually breaking free from it, I can relate to the feeling of standing on an escalator, unaware that life is still progressing. For those who may also struggle with this, keep in mind observing the world around you, adapting to changes, and moving forward are also forms of upskilling.

Hey LinkedIn community,Recently I joined a group of other developers in a project collective called Forge.Whether your goals are personal, professional, or somewhere in between, Forge is all about setting those goals, staying accountable, and celebrating each other’s success and progress. Between now and December, I have decided to take Forge as an opportunity to further develop my application StartSomewhere, which I plan to use to track my personal goals along the way.StartSomewhere is centered around the concept of maintaining motivation throughout the pursuit of long-term goals, where sustained effort is key.Often, individuals face challenges in maintaining momentum and can feel discouraged, perceiving their goals as distant and unattainable.StartSomewhere addresses this by shifting the perspective from a far-off end goal to celebrating the progress made and acknowledging the effort invested in reaching each milestone. For instance, instead of simply stating a broad goal like "I want to learn XYZ," users can set tangible commitments, such as "I plan to dedicate 20 hours this month to learning XYZ."Every completed hour becomes a measure of success, enabling users to view the journey as continuous progress, rather than an unattainable end goal. This application is a work-in-progress and I’m excited to deploy new features over the next few weeks. Please feel free to explore the app, I would love to hear your feedback and improvement ideas!🔗 Visit StartSomewhere: https://lnkd.in/gSsujA79

🌟 Introducing StartSomewhere: Achieve Your Goals with a Fresh Perspective! 🌟Explore the application here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gSsujA79I'm thrilled to introduce StartSomewhere, a personal project that puts a new spin on achieving your goals! Recently, I have become interested in Cognitive-Behavioral Theory (CBT), which is a psychological framework that focuses on the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. The idea is that our interpretation of events, rather than the events themselves, largely determines our emotional and behavioral responses.StartSomewhere aims to build upon this principle by changing your focus from the end goal to the progress toward your goal, reinforcing positive behaviors, and providing valuable feedback for further adjustment and improvement. For example, instead of simply stating, "I want to learn XYZ," you can set a tangible commitment, like, "I plan to dedicate 50 hours this month to learning XYZ." Thank you to everyone who has supported me in this endeavor. This project was fun to create and has acted as a helpful tool in finetuning my software development skills as well as keeping me motivated as I create new goals. Learning is a never-ending journey, and I welcome feedback as I continue to build upon this application with future improvements.#softwareengineering #frontenddevelopment #personalgrowth #smartgoals #react #typescript #nosql
