Hero Talent Trees for Fire Mage in The War Within

3.1.

Frostfire Hero Talents for Fire Mage

Frostfire Bolt returns after having been removed in Legion, as a replacementfor Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (54) Fireball. The spec revolves around building up stacks toimprove your Haste and Mastery, and providing various additional procs.

The Frostfire Hero Talent tree is a visual thing of beauty, with you bombardingyour enemies with all kinds of various Frost and Fire-related effects, like Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (55) Meteoralso dropping down Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (56) Comet Storms, Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (57) Phoenix Flames sometimesshooting off Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (58) Ice Novas, and random mini Frostfire Bolts shootingat your targets.

Playstyle-wise, the tree is relatively passive. Most of the effects happenautomatically when you cast other parts of your rotation that you alreadynormally cast. The primary rotational change is Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (59) Frostfire Empowermentgiving you a hard-hitting instant cast Frostfire bolt. You will most likelywant to strategically use this proc to maintain your stacks.

Building the various stacks is done mostly passively. The Fire stacks are very quickly procced for obvious reasons, but theFrost procs are a bit slower, especially when the target is below 30%.Frostfire Bolt and its damage over time component are the primary way to procthe Frost effect, however, Fireball is not actually cast that often, especiallywhen the target is below 30%, as Fireball (and thus Frostfire Bolt)is generally not used due to being replaced by Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (60) Scorch. This means, most Frost stacks will come from various procs like Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (61) Frostfire Infusionand Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (62) Meteor also dropping a Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (63) Comet Storm, and Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (64) Excess Frost.Additionally, during Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (65) Combustion, the stacks are automatically maxed out viaFire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (66) Flash Freezeburn, meaning that we do benefit from all of the perks ofthe tree during our most important damage window.

Defensively, you get the option of either another 5% health on your barrier,or to cast a full-strength Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (67) Blazing Barrier at the end of yourFire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (68) Ice Block/Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (69) Ice Cold. We can also reduce our non Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (70) Ice BlockFrost cooldowns, which is mostly significant for PvP, as it allows moreFire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (71) Frost Nova or Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (72) Ice Nova usage.

3.2.

Playstyle-wise, the Sunfury tree goes through an entirely passive phase, into quick bursts of Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (74) Hyperthermia. It also provides both a significant amount of passive Haste via Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (75) Mana Addiction, and cooldown reduction on Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (76) Fire Blast via Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (77) Glorious Incandescence, both speeding up your rotation further. You will build up Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (78) Spellfire Spheresby consuming multiple Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (79) Hot Streaks, which both increase your damage andproc Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (80) Burden of Power providing a powerful boost to your Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (81) Pyroblastor Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (82) Flamestrike. Additionally, the tree allows you to move your Scorch executephase from 30% to 35% via Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (83) Sunfury Execution, aligning it withFire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (84) Molten Fury, or have longer Combustions based on the amount ofSpheres you have when you cast it via Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (85) Savor the Moment.

Finally, when you cast Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (86) Combustion (only whenyou cast it, so not via Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (87) Sun King's Blessing) you spawn a strongPhoenix, which will passively attack your enemies with both Arcane and Fire spells. The Phoenix will also consume your Spheres, doing significant extra damage andbuffing your own damage via Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (88) Lingering Embers from Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (89) Codex of the Sunstriders. Then, when your Combustion ends, you will get Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (90) Hyperthermia based uponthe amount of Spheres your Phoenix consumed, giving you an additional burst phaseby making all Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (91) Pyroblast and Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (92) Flamestrike instant and guaranteedcritical strikes.

Defensively, the Sunfury tree offers minimal benefits. It proves some avoidanceand leech around your Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (93) Blazing Barrier. It does offer some additionalcrowd-control and utility via your Phoenix castingFire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (94) Spellsteal / Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (95) Supernova / Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (96) Gravity Lapse, or replacingyour own Supernova for Gravity Lapse.

Fire Mage Tier Set in The War Within

Below are the Tier Set Bonuses for Fire Mage in The WarWithin. After their description, some opinions on their pros and cons.

  • Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (97) Mage Fire 11.0 Class Set 2pcFire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (98) Phoenix Flames damage increased by 10%. This amount is increased to 25% on its primary target.
  • Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (99) Mage Fire 11.0 Class Set 4pc — After dealing damage, Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (100) Phoenix Flames has a 10% chance to return to you, refunding 1% of the cooldown on Phoenix Flames and granting you 6% increased spell damage for 10 sec.

Both set bonuses are built around Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (101) Phoenix Flames, which hasalways been a mixed spell in terms of player enjoyment. Some love it, some hate it.The 2-set is a simple, completely passive damage increase, so there is not much to sayabout it. The 4-set however, gives you a small chance to refund 50% of the cooldown(the 1% shown in-game is incorrect) and increases your damage for 10 seconds.

Phoenix Flames is a pretty large source of Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (102) Hot Streak generation whentalented with Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (103) Call of the Sun King (which will probably be amandatory pick with this tier set), so this tier set indirectly increasesthe amount of Hot Streak procs which is always great. Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (104) From the Ashesgives you flat cooldown reduction on Phoenix Flames, which combined with the 4-set, would giveyou a lot of additional hard-hitting Phoenix Flames, especially if Fire Mage Guide for The War Within - Dragonflight 10.2.7 (105) Ashen Featheris picked. Whether a build leaning so heavily into Phoenix Flames outperformsmore traditional builds is yet to be seen, but it might be a viable or even thestrongest possible build.

If you are a big fan of Phoenix Flames, then this tier set is a fun tierset to build around. Many people still find Phoenix Flames relatively awkwardto cast due to how it interacts with the rest of our kit when used immediatelyafter Pyroblasts or Fireballs, so those players might prefer a set bonus that isless focused around Phoenix Flames.

How Good is the Fire Mage Tier Bonus in The WarWithin?

Currently, this is a difficult question to answer. There might be a situationwhere a fully Phoenix Flames-invested build becomes available and perform very well,in which case, the tier set is very strong. However, for non-Phoenix Flames heavybuilds, the 2-set is looking weak, whereas the 4-set is looking to bepretty strong, as you will most likely be able to keep near 100% uptimeon the 6% bonus damage, and increase the amount of Hot Streaks generated.

5.
