Importance of friends in shaping your professional career:Friends are the delicate threads that weave through the fabric of our professional journey, imparting colors of camaraderie and resilience. In the labyrinth of career pursuits, these cherished companions stand as pillars of support, propelling us forward with encouragement and shared wisdom. Through their diverse perspectives and unwavering belief, they broaden our horizons, sparking innovative ideas and fostering growth. Just as a diamond's brilliance is refined under pressure, our friendships polish our skills through challenges, offering constructive critique and celebrating our triumphs. In the mosaic of life, friends are the radiant tiles that illuminate the path to success, reminding us that true achievement is not solitary, but a symphony composed together, where each note played resonates with shared memories, laughter, and profound understanding.

10 things I've learned building my company:1. You are more talented than you think you are2. The more you learn, the more you’re going to realise don’t know - and that’s okay!3. It’s life as well as work, have fun along the way4. Give everything away that you learn - it will come back to you ten-fold5. Be your weird self - weird is cool6. Don’t check your emails after work is done - nothing is so urgent it can’t wait until tomorrow7. Figure out your personal values and stick by them8. Focus on telling a story - people remember stories, not sales pitches9. Say yes to every travel opportunity - you learn way more from travelling than you do from books10. With great power comes great responsibility - use it wisely

🌴 Back to Where It All Started – Tenerife!!Throwing it back to the days when Tenerife wasn't just a holiday spot, but where my adventure started!Working and managing shot girls back in 2005 it was my first taste, and who would've guessed it'd spark my love for working abroad. From selling shots to PRing, working abroad isn’t just about drinks – it was a crash course in life skills.Working abroad taught me:SalesNegotiationCustomer servicesManaging a teamRelationship building and so much more! It's also where I met the one and only Chris Whatling 🐾 🏳️🌈🐶. Who knew that a chance encounter of me attempting to sell him 10 jelly shots, and successfully! Would then be part of our journey as friends then onto The Animal People Recruitment CompanySo, if you're wondering about taking a break or a secondment from the usual or going on an adventure - don't hesitate!Put your experiences in your CV because life's not just about work – it's about those stories that make you uniquely YOU!PS Excuse the 💩 picture quality but I’m secretly glad we didn’t have camera phones or social media back then!#tenerifethrowback #careerbreak#worklifebalance#transferableskills

Owner / Founder Castlegate Education at Castlegate Education: Leading Worldwide Learning

At Castlegate Education a lot of what we do is work which is confidential. It’s either due diligence or business development, and that takes time. I’m about to take my twelfth flight of the year to a “secret location”. At this point, we don’t know whether the result will be a successful establishment of a UK brand abroad or not. It depends on the people we meet, local market conditions, and the strength of the opportunity. Even great opportunities sometimes don’t come to fruition just because the parties’ values, expectations, or timescales aren’t aligned. We shake hands and walk away. But without the travel, looking people in the eye, resources deployed, and time building relationships, there can never be success. Here’s hoping that this flight brings that return on investment- a successful project. But also, think on this - if the trip makes us reassess, redefine, delay or even discontinue because we did the proper due diligence ….it has still been a successful mission.
