it's not just the stock market focusing on that weakness and running up. we've got both of those yields fallen more than 32-basis points a week with just over the last five trading sessions is that a screaming signal and fed could cut sooner rather than later? actively to invest on the odds is the fed funds futures and contracts based on what the fed's benchmark rate will be at each meeting and right now july showing an 18.5% odds but look at probability of a quarter point cut that would take it from five and a quarter to 5.5% down to 5 to 5.25%. september now at 70.6% odds. one week ago, it was just 46%

3:04 pm

odds of a cut. 26 million a day new record, what does that tell you on behalf of investors to trade mostly interest rate futures? >> it tells me a lot of things and some of the economic information you gave there is clear as mud. so there's so many differing opinions with adp and everything else being different in the market reacting in a different way.

3:05 pm

3:06 pm

yields are continuing to start in the fall now. it's really interesting and now people are making those hedges. it's the time of year we're running out with the clock a bit. liz: we're one week away from announcement by the federal reserve's open market committee, rate setting committee on the meeting and they'll probably pause and it's the so-called thought plot where each of the voting members stand where rates might be by the end of the year. that really kind of juices up the activity in the fed funds futures. what was ha year or two years ago? >> much less. in a zero rate investigation and it was much less and spiked significantly over the last couple years obviously. liz: what does that mien for, i

3:07 pm

guess, your bot toll line? obviously right now you guys are doing incredibly well. there's commission from the contracts. >> what's interesting is there's been no fid movement for well over a year and no rate increases either and yet seeing historic volumes at cme at treasury complex and counter intuitive to the fundamentals and i think investors look at if interest rates go down, that's not good for cme. that's not looking at proper way. 2009 to 2020. that -- those were times where you saw the grade go down. did that hurt your bottom line?

3:10 pm

or something maybe to bet on, to sort of speculate. liz: terry duffy of the cme was just here. he talked about how big crypto futures -- >> we look at it as a speculative term. maybe a way of value in the future. in other countries it is, you have to use it as currency because the currencies in nigeria and venezuela or wherever, these places are devaluing their currencies. these are tin pot dictatorships. so mr. gam bearian goes over there and arrest him. they don't throw him in like a holding cell. they put him in one of the worst prisons in the word apparently where he contracted malaria. liz: where was the charge. >> it was trumped up charge, espionage. what was the charge against evan, journalist i can't remember his last name. liz: guesser covery much. >> from

you need it to live because the current currencies are worth nothing. anyway. we'll keep you abreast. liz: very serious story. that very much. cybersecurity player crowdstrike is doing great at this hour topping nasdaq forecasting second quarter revenue above estimates. the stock is up 12%. other cybersecurity names are getting lifted right along with it. we have zscaler up 3%. palo alto, fortinet up as well. a.i. chip-related names topping the charts. asml, applied research, nvidia, lam research, we've been talking. nvidia has been in and out. it is topping 3 trillion-dollars in market cap. our next guest says she has her eye on several sectors beyond chips that are poised to benefit from a.i. but also a subsector of the chip world. joining me now lpl financial

chief financial strategist, quincy krosby. $1.12 trillion under management. put out chip-related names you like at the moment? >> absolutely. we look at hp enterprises, how well they did today. liz: record. >> also in terms of cybersecurity you mentioned that a.i. is helping to enhance cybersecurity and you know, microsoft just to give you an example, is an investor in a company that came public at the end of april, rubric. i'm keeping my eye on that. the share price is down but the analysts are looking at that company and saying this one is going to be an important cybersecurity name going forward. the ipo market has pipeline of cybersecurity names coming out. you know what? for companies, for american companies, global companies, cybersecurity is no longer a

discretionary need. it is an essential and they are spending more and more money to keep their information safe, to keep their operations safe. so when we look at the cybersecurity etfs they have also been doing well. one other thing about cybersecurity, we are starting to see venture capital going in to cybersecurity names, giving them for the secondary offerings, putting money in and as i mentioned microsoft is investing one that became public at the end of april, rubric. it is important, it is an essential subsector of the larger technology names and enhanced by a.i. liz: well enhanced by a.i. and that seems to be a trigger word, certainly on a day like today, although just a couple days ago, people were wondering, we talked about it here on the show, is it too bubblicious at the moment? what about utilities, quincy, utilities are the ones that a.i.

suck so much energy from? >> well absolutely. you know it is interesting because utilities begin to do very well when those 10-year treasury yields come down. when they do well, historically been a pattern they're signaling that the yields are going to come down because after all, they offer tremendous yields for their investors. however, they have also been part of the beneficiaries of a.i. because as you said, a.i., they need more and more power for delivering the processing of generative a.i. it will be a huge process.
