Everything you need to know before creating your Amazon Wedding Registry (1)

While Amazon is best known for its speedy delivery and doorbuster Prime Day sales, the online giant also has some skin in the game regarding a subject I’m very familiar with as a newlywed – wedding registries. This lesser-known aspect of the site is a game-changer when it comes time to set up a wishlist ahead of your wedding (or baby shower, birthday or other special occasion as it so happens). However, because the feature isn’t as widely known as signing up for a Prime Membership, it’s worth a deep dive into all of an Amazon Registry’s key benefits you won’t want to overlook.

If you’re curious about how to get started or why it’s worth setting up an Amazon Wedding Registry, keep reading.

What is an Amazon Wedding Registry?

Consider an Amazon Wedding Registry your one-stop shop for helping you celebrate your next chapter as a married couple. Just like a traditional wedding registry, couples can build a wishlist of items to help set them up for their new life together, but with a twist.

Since Amazon has millions of items to choose from, the registry system is a great way to request items that you’re actually going to use. If you’re like me and were already living with your partner before getting married, this feature is especially helpful since you likely already have your fair share of kitchenware, linens and coffee machines. The options are just about endless, so go ahead and add that luggage set, new TV or smart home speaker to your registry.

Benefits of an Amazon Wedding Registry

While being available to build and shop entirely online is arguably the biggest draw to an Amazon Wedding Registry, there are also plenty of other benefits:

  • Gifts ship directly to you for free: If your guests choose to, they can place their orders and have them shipped directly to the couple at no cost. Whether you’re having a destination wedding or just have friends and family spread out across the country, this is a super helpful feature.
  • Enjoy extended return windows: Weddings are stressful enough without having to worry about potential returns or exchanges within a tight timeframe. Luckily, Amazon offers newlyweds 180 days to decide whether to keep or return wedding gifts.
  • You’ll receive a discount to treat yourself: Registrants that have received at least $500 in gifts from their Amazon Wedding Registry will receive a one-time, 20 per cent discount to apply to any registry items that weren’t purchased by your guests.
  • Connect directly to your wedding website: For a streamlined process that your guests will be sure to appreciate, your Amazon Wedding Registry connects directly to TheKnot.com. From there, guests can RSVP and shop your registry in just a few clicks.
